Diane R. Soles is a Sociology Instructor at Madison College, Faculty Partner in the College’s Institute for Equity and Transformational Change, and Facilitator for the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ Equity and Inclusion Committee, and Sub-Committee on Professional Development. Since completing her doctorate at UW-Madison in 2005, Dr. Soles has taught sociology to Wisconsin undergraduates at two-year and four-institutions, including UW-Whitewater and Madison College. Her early research focused on gender, and societies in political transitions in Latin America. Subsequently her work has turned to race and ethnicity in the U.S., specifically pedagogy and institutional change in and outside the classroom. Awards include, among others, WSA’s Hans O. Mauksch Outstanding Teaching Award (2010). Provost Award for Faculty Excellence, Madison College (2021); and Co-Recipient of League for Innovation in the Community College Innovation of the Year Award for Inclusive Excellence in Curriculum (2023).
